Situation:

Salt Lake City International Airport is ranked as the 25th busiest in the United States and the 47th busiest in the world. In 2003 the facility served 18.5 million passengers. The airport has 2 terminals, 5 concourses and 79 gates. It is Delta Airlines third largest hub. Delta operates 95 scheduled daily departures and Southwest Airlines operates 197. (2003) Busy airports are usually associated with connecting flights and business travelers make up the greater majority of passengers. Business travelers particularly demand affordable, fast, secure voice and data communications connectivity to use their waiting time productively.


Mission:

Deliver high-speed Wi-Fi wireless service throughout the airport facility in all passenger areas.


AirJuice Solution:

AirJuice Global Solutions installed an in-building voice and data communications platform for Salt Lake City International Airport. The in-building LC-2020 antennae system provides full broadcast wireless communications for passengers in the terminal buildings. The system provides guaranteed coverage for Wi-Fi devices – wireless cellular phone broadcast and Wi-Fi 802.11 data access for travelers. Passengers now have remote access to the Internet, e-mail, corporate applications on mobile devices and essentially can replicate their desktop environment – at peak speeds that are up to 100 times faster than standard dial-up.

Waiting time no longer needs to be ‘downtime’. Passengers may now affordably employ this time effectively and productively to suit the demands of their business needs. Strategic vendor partners on this project: Bell Canada, Sprint.
